Well here we are my first post of my frugality blog. This blog will consist of thoughts, ideas, and different ways of doing things to save you money. I plan on having recipes, how-to's, and other things that I come across in my research that may help.
The approach I will take is a "back to basics" viewpoint. This blog will stress self sufficiency, and creatively acquiring what you need from various economical sources not limited to homemade, second hand stores, cooperatives, and others.
One thing that comes to mind at this moment is the "on demand water heaters". I recently purchased a Noritz 530 about four months ago and in that time I have only used 35 gallons of gas for heating water. The most impressive feature of these water heaters is that they do not run to keep a tank of water hot. They only come on (and only burn gas)when you turn the hot water on at the faucet. Another plus to the tank less water heater is the hot water leaving the faucet is at a predetermined temperature and I have had no variance in that (such as when a toilet is flushed or the washing machine is running).
The tank less water heaters are quite pricey up front, but are a great buy in the long run considering the impact in your utility bill. When you also consider tax incentive (when you file income tax), it is a deal that can't be beat.
